What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering - Maintenance 2nd Class position at Hotels and Resorts of Halekulani?
As an integral part of a team, Maintenance 2nd Class is responsible for continuously looking for ways to improve each guest’s experience from providing exceptional guest service to maintaining guestrooms, public areas as well as back-of- house areas to ensure an attractive and well-maintained hotel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs general maintenance and repairs in guestrooms and public areas including proper preparation techniques, for all paint types and surfaces. Various types of wall, ceiling and structural repairs. Build, construct walls, cabinets, tales, shelving, and structural framing and finish carpentry work. Focus on aesthetics.
Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems and fixtures in entire facility and grounds.
Maintain current knowledge of practices, techniques and use of equipment to perform all required work.
Initiate and maintain accurate records and logs of projects and preventative maintenance work.
Maintain complete knowledge and comply with all departmental policies, procedures and standards.
Schedule work in accordance to preventive maintenance program to coordinate with housekeeping and front desk.
Organize materials, tools and equipment to perform daily assignments.
Respond to hotel emergency situations as a first responder.
Maintain shop and other work areas in a neat and orderly fashion.
Maintain inventory of parts, written logs or other service records.
Perform pool maintenance including cleaning & chemical balancing.
Perform all other duties as may be required or assigned.

Reports To: Director of Engineering & Engineering Manager
Supervises: None
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Vocational training certificate preferred.
Any combination of education and experience which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications to perform the essential functions of this position.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Valid drivers license with a clean driver abstract.
Be able to obtain a CPR and first aid certification
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Ability to anticipate guest needs; respond promptly and acknowledge all guests.

Ensure familiarity with all hotel services and features.
General knowledge of renovation practices and procedures.
Knowledge of types of paints, finishes, adhesives, epoxies, etc.., to include its uses, procedures and preparation techniques.
Proficient with hand and power tools.
Good verbal and written communication skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Light to medium work throughout the hotel both indoor and out.
Occasional exposure to fumes, dust, heights, noise and cramped spaces.
Flexible work schedule to include nights and weekends.
Work with minimal supervision.
Salary : $30 - $35
