Headend Construction Technician

14. Ability to work a flexible full-time schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, holidays and participate with on-call rotation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Install devices on MDFs and IDFs such as racks, panels, cabinets and all electronics associated with IPTV, RF, Voice and Data.
2. Provide field support in the following areas: equipment delivery coordination, equipment installation of batteries, rectifiers, inverters, patch panels, fiber optic enclosure, UPS Systems, and associated infrastructure used in telecommunications networks.
3. Efficiently coordinate with NOC and other engineering teams.
4. Perform installation, wiring, labeling and configuration of equipment.
5. Ensure proper maintenance of site buildings and grounds.
6. Ensure power systems are functional which includes performing and analyzing battery routines, performing voltage adjustments and PM’s on rectifiers and DC power systems.
7. Repair or replace damaged or faulty items in a timely manner to ensure maximum network availability.
8. Must be able/willing to cross train on other telecommunications equipment that the company may need personnel to install/operate/maintain.
9. Maintain accurate files coming in from the field, file tracking, reporting and attention to detail.
10. Continuously develop skills to advance professionally.
11. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Minimum of 3 years related telecommunication industry.
• Minimum of 1 Year experience with Headend and fiber plant construction.
• Wiring and wire management skills mainly copper, CAT5/CAT6, coaxial.
• Excellent audio / visual observation skills towards catching impairments and quality issues.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and familiarity with OTDR test equipment, locator, signal level meter, and hand tools.
• In-depth understanding of OSP (outside plant) and proficient in troubleshooting.
• Computer proficiency required in Microsoft Office and Visio, with a higher level of proficiency in Excel, preferred.
• Experience with AC and DC power, preferred.
• Knowledge of IPTV
