What are the responsibilities and job description for the MEAT CLERK/ MEAT CUTTER position at HOUCHENS FOOD GROUP INC?
The Hometown IGA, Jasper, IN, is currently looking for a Meat Cutter/Clerk to complete their meat department operations. Ideal Candidate will be responsible for meat operation including but not limited to preparing, storing, cutting, cleaning and serving meat. Experience preferred, but we will train.
- Possess a good knowledge of all meat products, including the muscling and bone structure of beef and pork.
- Applying the knowledge in the cutting and trimming of all meat products, and accepting of responsibility to cut, trim, and grind all products in accordance with company policy.
- Traying, preparing, and wrapping all cut meat products to policy.
- Maintaining and overseeing an organized, clean, and safe cutting area and cooler.
- Receiving, rotation, and checking of trucks and notifying the meat manager of any overages or shortages.
- Assisting in training and teaching of new associates assigned to the meat department.
- Making sure that all associates working in the department meet production standards and carry out their tasks with good work habits.
- Working in other inner departments of the meat department.
- Have a working knowledge of ordering, inventory management, and displaying procedures.
- Understanding the pricing system.
- Overseeing the sanitation of the cutting room and cooler.
- Knowledge and teaching of safety procedures in the cutting and grinding operation.
- Assuming responsibility for the department in the meat manager’s absence.
- Follow and manage according to the Time, Value, and Experience culture.
