JOB SUMMARY:
Houghton University provides an academically challenging, Christ-centered education in the liberal
arts and sciences to students from diverse traditions and economic backgrounds and equips them
to lead and labor as scholar-servants in a changing world. The Web Content Specialist supports the
mission of the University by contributing content to the Houghton University website to support
enrollment goals through the creation and optimization of webpages and monitoring of key
performance indicators.
Essential Functions:
This position will partner with other marketing team members to implement an integrated digital
marketing strategy with primary focus on web content and recommendations for opportunities to
increase conversions through the three primary calls-to-action: Request info, Visit, and Apply.
- Website Content – Create, edit, and remove content, including landing pages, news and
o Content Updates: Make routine updates, optimizing content, design, and
functionality for the user experience and adhering to accessibility and privacy
requirements. Respond to content and support requests from departments and
web editors.
o WCAG/ADA Compliance: Conduct routine evaluations of website content,
identifying and addressing potential areas for concern. Train web editors on proper
usage of CMS to ensure compliance.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, computer science, English/writing, journalism,
to demonstrate proficiency optimizing landing pages and user funnels.
- Experience and proficiency with web design, content management systems (ex/Wordpress)
- A solid understanding of SEO concepts, and website and marketing analytics tools (e.g.,
- Strong communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and adjust to changing priorities for multifaceted
- Personal Christian faith that is demonstrated in one’s professional and personal life.
