Location : Chicago, IL - Hybrid - Four days required on-site

Base Compensation : $60,000 $80,000 USD

Bonus Eligible : Yes

Sales personnel are eligible for variable incentive pay dependent on their achievement of pre-established sales goals. Non-Sales roles are eligible for a company bonus plan, which is calculated as a percentage of eligible wages and dependent on individual and company performance.

Position Overview :

We are seeking a motivated Sales Associate to join our investment banking team. This role is integral to sourcing new sell-side and buy-side M&A advisory engagements, focusing on outreach to prequalified private business owners.

Responsibilities :

Prospect Research & Development (40%)

Develop and refine targeted prospect lists based on industry, size, geography, and ownership structure.
Conduct research using industry reports, databases, and company websites to identify and assess potential target companies that align with Houlihan Capital's target client profile.
Maintain and update target lists within Houlihans CRM.
Analyze data to evaluate the suitability of targets for sell-side engagements.
Work closely with senior bankers to validate and prioritize prospects for outreach.
Collaborate with Houlihans marketing team to refine outreach campaigns and materials for consistent branding.

Outreach & Relationship Building (40%)

Contact prequalified private business owners to initiate conversations about potential M&A transactions.

Conduct initial discussions to understand business owners' needs, goals, and readiness for a transaction.

Schedule follow-up meetings between qualified leads and senior bankers.

Build and maintain relationships with qualified leads.

Attend networking events and conferences to represent the firm and build connections with potential referral sources.

Pipeline Management & Reporting (20%)

Maintain CRM systems with detailed notes and records of outreach activities.

Provide regular reporting on outreach activity, pipeline development, and conversion rates.

Qualifications :

23 years of professional experience in a role involving direct outreach to private business owners, ideally in a finance-related context ( e.g. , M&A advisory, banking, financial services, business consulting).

Proven ability to initiate and build relationships with senior decision-makers.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Results-driven with a track record of achieving or exceeding sales or engagement targets.

Experience working with CRM software ( e.g. , Salesforce, HubSpot, Cool Life).

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Bachelor's degree in business ( finance, economics, or a related field is preferred but not required ).
