The Emergency Department Ward Clerk is responsible for creating a welcoming environment through positive interactions with patients, their families, physicians, nurses, and the hospital staff. Welcomes all patients / customer concerns in a proactive, timely manner, and functions as a primary liaison between ED nursing staff, patients and visitors, regarding delays and patient flow. Job responsibilities include registering patients and other duties such as obtaining copies of identification, insurance cards and medical records. Previous computer experience required. Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred. Required to work share of weekends and holidays and other shifts/hours as needed. CNA license optional.
Ideal candidates will be motivated, work well as a team member, have a high level of physical stamina and demonstrate an understanding of behavior change theories. Responsibilities include supervising exercise sessions, monitoring participants for inappropriate response to exercise, heart rhythm monitoring, coordinating patient care including psychosocial support needs, providing patient specific education, and developing patient specific treatment plans. The nurse will be responsible for preparing the patient for stress testing and Tilt Table testing, assisting the physician with the testing, establishing and scanning outpatient heart and blood pressure monitors. CPR certification required. IV experience, ACLS and cardiac rhythm knowledge or willingness to obtain.
Primary assignment is 3 12’s 7a-7p, share of weekend, holiday, and Call coverage. Must have or be eligible for Maine CRTT or RRT licensure. Previous experience preferred.
