Status: Full-time
Work Schedule: M-F, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Weekends when needed- Weekends are required during visitation programs and special events. Comp time will be allocated during the week
Salary $60,000 per year
Job Summary
The Program Coordinator at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility is responsible for all aspects of The Children’s Center Visitation Programs; including but not limited to the Teen and Pre-teen Program, Upstate and Overnight Program, Holiday Program and special events hosted by The Children’s Center. The Program Manager’s responsibilities shall include coordinating regular visitation and meetings between the child(ren) and their parent, activities and advocacy calls with the guardians and the children’s schools. The Program Manager must comply with the successful completion of a background investigation by DOCCS (Department of Corrections and Community Supervision) as part of volunteer application process.

Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage the Teen Program enrollment and Upstate Program enrollment by maximizing the number of children who have access for these programs and their components
- Plan, coordinate and oversee all aspects of these programs’ visitation components
- Collaborate with Playroom Coordinator to plan and execute all activities
- Complete all paperwork required by DOCCS in a timely manner
- Outreach to local volunteers and vendors to plan meals and follow-up accordingly
- Identify and coordinate mother/child enrichment opportunities for participants to take place during visits
- Support the “Mothers of Adolescents” parenting class (mandatory for all program participants) and periodically update the existing curriculum
- Design curriculum and agendas for the weekly and monthly community mothers’ meetings and co-facilitate these meetings with The Children’s Center social worker
- Coordinate enrichment opportunities for participant mothers, including guest speakers or educational sessions
- Meet with the social worker for regular check-ins and to plan collaboratively to support the families in the program
- Review any ongoing issues with participating mothers and/or children and discuss what services, if any, are needed.
- Provide advocacy phone calls at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility so the participating mothers can establish and maintain contact with their children guardians, schools and supportive community agencies as needed
- Identify and plan enriching activities for the children
- Maintain thorough records of program participants and activities; provide program data to the Program Director for monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports
- Oversee admission and discharge from the program, when required, in consultation with the Program Director
- Work cooperatively and effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Attend all mandatory DOCCS trainings, including orientation refresher, when required, as well as full compliance with all DOCCS requirements and directives
- Special Event Programs sponsored by The Children’s Center
- Other duties as assigned
- Flexibility to work weekends as needed

Qualifications And Requirements
- BA or BS can substitute 4-5 years of relevant experience working with a “non-profit” social service organization providing similar services
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Leadership qualities
- Experience working in a prison setting preferred
