What are the responsibilities and job description for the Peer Support Specialist Substance Use Disorder- Stabilization Unit position at Hour House?
To help develop a supportive community response to those recovering from substance use disorders (SUD). Hour House is hiring two Stabilization and Transition Unit Recovery Navigators.
Responsibilities and Duties
Candidates must be in their own recovery from substance use disorder for no less than 2 years and be able to share their story of recovery and how they maintain recovery day to day.
Stabilization and Transition unit Recovery Navigators are individuals in recovery from Substance Use Disorder (SUD) who will work alongside healthcare, counseling and monitoring staff to provide a safe, welcoming space to those needing detoxification, a safe space, further assessment, and/or case management services.
Recovery Navigators will act as a resource broker, assisting clients in identifying and reducing barriers to their recovery. Recovery Navigators will foster a strong relationship with local recoverees and community stakeholders. They will provide support and assistance in navigating social services, educational institutions, family re-engagement, and employment opportunities.
Recovery Navigators will use their own experience in active addiction and recovery in their work with others. They will need to be prepared to share their story of recovery and message of hope in their work.
Qualifications and Skills
Staff will work 3 or 4 ,12 hour days per week, with alternating weekends off. The shift we are hiring for at this time is 5PM until 5AM.Recovery Navigators must have a high school diploma or GED, 2 years of uninterrupted recovery from a substance use disorder, be 21 years of age, have a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and be able to pass all background checks. Additional competencies needed are reading skills, computer skills, people skills, dependability, trustworthiness, and self-motivation to excel.

Pay: From $18.50 per hour
