The House of Commons Digital Services and Real Property is currently looking to staff and build a pool for: Junior Interior Designer, Interior Designer and Senior Interior Designer positions.

Join our dynamic and innovative Interior Design team at the House of Commons, where your creativity and expertise will contribute to shaping spaces that reflect the values of the House of Commons. As a key member of our team, you will have the unique opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects within three Programs of work: Major Crown Projects, Recapitalization and Campus Projects, and Capital Projects and Standards and Guidelines.

The Junior Interior Designer contributes to various aspects of projects within one of the three Programs of Work by assisting in the delivery of Interior Design tasks and completing their assigned responsibilities. This role requires strong practical skills and a solid understanding of design concepts and principles.

As an Interior Designer, you will be at the forefront of delivering exceptional interior design services. Your role will encompass providing strategic direction, overseeing project planning, management and implementation of interior design scope of work, ensuring the seamless integration within one of our three programs of work.

The Senior Interior Designer will lead complex projects within one of our key programs, ensuring key interior design deliverables are met. You will collaborate with multiple teams and stakeholders to oversee large, multi-million-dollar projects and keep them on track. Your strong project management skills and in-depth knowledge of interior design principles will be essential in delivering high-quality results.

In order to ensure seamless delivery of services and operations, you must be willing to work on-site five days a week.

Qualifications

Education :

  • Post-Secondary education in an Interior Design program;
  • Internship (Junior Interior Designer) / Membership (Interior Designer and Senior Interior Designer) in a recognized Canadian professional interior design association.

Experience :

Junior Interior Designer

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working on commercial projects, contributing to the delivery of Interior Design project tasks;
  • Knowledge of design concepts, project documents, furniture specifications, contract management, and installations;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the technical relationships between interior design, architecture, mechanical and electrical engineering scopes of work;
  • Experienced with AutoCAD, REVIT, Microsoft 365, InDesign, SketchUp, and Bluebeam.

Interior Designer

  • Minimum 5 years of experience on large projects, delivering key interior design (ID) tasks from start to finish;
  • Strong knowledge of design concepts, project documents, furniture specifications, contract management, and installations;
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the technical relationships between interior design, architecture, mechanical and electrical engineering scopes of work and their relation concerning integrated FFE;
  • Experienced in quality control, reviewing plans, inspecting sites, and providing feedback on work and materials;
  • Knowledge of and experience in data/information management practices and procedures to develop reports, provide technical guidance, prepare status reports, prepare summary presentations and make impartial recommendations;
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, REVIT, Microsoft 365, InDesign, SketchUp, and Bluebeam.

Senior Interior Designer

  • Minimum 8 years of experience managing large, multi-million-dollar projects with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders, including overseeing key interior design deliverables such as procuring furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE);
  • Strong understanding of design development, ergonomics, environmental considerations, project documents, furniture and finishes specifications, contract management, tendering, and post-occupancy evaluations;
  • Knowledge of government tendering and procurement processes;
  • Experience managing vendors, coordinating phased deliveries, and offering technical expertise in FFE;
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, REVIT, Microsoft 365, InDesign, SketchUp, and Bluebeam.

Annual Rated of pay: Junior Interior Designer (ADG-F) $68,195 - $86,288; Interior Designer (ADG-E) $75,547 - $95,589; Senior Interior Designer (ADG-D) $83,912 106,175.
