Kids Place Teacher

House of Neighborly Service (HNS) is in look for energetic and responsible individuals who are interested in working in the Early Childcare field. They would be working directly with children ages 18 months up to 5 years of age.

REQUIRED education, experience and skills:

• Must have Highschool Diploma or GED
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) is Preferred
• Some Early Childhood or Childcare Experience is a PLUS.
• Must be able to pass a background check and submit to fingerprinting
• Must be reliable and punctual

Qualifications:

· High School Diploma, or equivalent

Child Development Associate (CDA) preferred - if not, must obtain within one year of hiring date

· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a licensed child care facility.

· Demonstrated ability to manage a group of infants, toddlers and/or preschool children in a classroom setting either alone or with assistance from Teachers.

· Demonstrated knowledge of, or ability to learn, and implement TDFPS Standards for Day Care Centers and the Texas Rising Star Standards.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to develop lesson plans and successfully instruct students.

· Proficient active listening skills to understand and adapt to students' various learning needs.

· Knowledge of appropriate learning styles and strategies.

· Willing to learn new teaching techniques.

· Excellent organizational and time management skills.

· Leadership skills and patience for working with students of all ages.

· Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.

· Bilingual in Spanish and English a must.

Responsibilities

· Maintain excellent punctuality and attendance.

· Comfortably lift and carry children up to 35 lbs.

· Report daily attendance on each child.

· Feed, nurture, and play with children, change diapers.

· Participate in planned curriculum activities with children.

· Work with supporting technology pieces.

· Establishing and enforcing rules of behavior for students in the classroom.

· Preparing lesson plans and projects to complete learning objectives.

· Planning and implementing the classroom schedule.

· Adapting teaching methods to meet the interests and learning styles of students.

· Completing various assessments for students as determined by the organization.

· Working with students one-on-one when they need extra help or attention.

· Planning and implementing activities requiring the parents and children’s participation.

· Organizing classroom materials and maintaining essential cleanliness in the classroom.

· Involving parents in the education and care of their children through verbal and written communication and other appropriate methods.

· Acquire a minimum of 30 training hours annually, as outlined in Texas Rising Star standards.

· Attend meetings and trainings required by House of Neighborly Service.

· Maintain CPR and First Aid certifications at all times.

· Maintain current and clear driving record at all times.

· Helping ensure that Kid’s Place operates in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations and quality standards including, but not limited to, the following:

o Being well informed of and helping ensure compliance with the TDFPS Minimum Standards and Texas Rising Star Standards.

o Maintaining appropriate and timely records required by HNS, licensing and/or accreditation agencies, etc.

o Maintaining confidentiality of children and family information.

o Reporting suspected child abuse and neglect as required by law.

o Maintaining a safe, healthy and attractive learning environment both inside and outside the classroom.

· Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
