The Live Hanger positions includes effectively and efficiently hanging live birds by the legs on a moving shackle line. This work includes handling the chickens in a manner that does not include intentionally mistreating the chicken, either by handling the bird by the wing or other manner that would cause bruising or broken bones. Live Hanger will make sure line stays full with birds hung by both legs. Also must be able to determine good live birds from dead birds. Making sure birds are kept on the line and no let loose is also important. Work involves working in a warm and dusty environment at a very fast pace for extended periods of times with breaks. Must follow safety rules at all times.
Requirements:
- Excellent verbal communication skills required
- Speed and accuracy required with good hand/eye coordination.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to stoop and bend on a regular basis.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work in a warm environment and withstand a dusty environment.
- Must be able to work weekends and overtime.
- Determine good live birds from dead birds
- Must be able to grab good live birds by the legs only and hang them in a moving shackle by the feet ensuring each shackle has a bird on it.
- Must be able to handle birds gently to prevent bruising and broken bones.
- Must be able to hang at least 28 birds per minute while pulling the line.
- Perform any duties required by management.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
No previous experience required but preferred.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
No specific education required.
