This is an in-office position located at our headquarters in Austin, TX. Remote candidates will not be considered at this time. Relocation will not be offered.
Position Summary
The Capital Markets Operations Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day functions of the Capital Markets Team within HouseMax Funding. This position is responsible for assisting the Director of Capital Markets in projects including setting and managing whole loan trades with institutional counterparties, conducting market research and financial analysis due diligence, and providing insights to aid in team decision making.
Duties & Responsibilities
Whole Loan Trade Support
o Collaborate with the Director of Capital Markets in facilitating whole loan trades
o Assist in the preparation of trade documentation, including data tapes, purchase, and sale agreements, and bailees.
o Conduct due diligence on individual loans to assist in making loan placement determinations.
o Analyze and evaluate loan pricing to support negotiation and decision-making during trade transactions.
Reporting and Presentation
o Assist in preparing comprehensive reports, summaries and presentations on market research, department performance and portfolio performance.
o Communicate insights and recommendations to the Director of Capital Markets and other Stakeholders.
o Update and maintain relevant databases, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data.
Due Diligence / Underwriting
o Assist in the due diligence process for potential loans, including credit analysis and risk assessment.
o Collaborate with internal teams to gather necessary information and documentation for corresponding loan guidelines.
o Identify and address any potential issues or discrepancies during the due diligence process.
Guideline and Credit Box Compliance
o Stay updated on investor guidelines and any potential movement in credit box / loan pricing matrices.
o Ensure adherence to investor guidelines.
o Assist in the preparation of training and tools for external departments to learn and adhere to updated guidelines or pricing.
Trade Support
o Complete necessary assignments and endorsements and ensure shipment of collateral packages on loans being traded in the secondary markets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, or Business Administration preferred.
- Minimum of 1-3 years preferred in a role that involved underwriting, credit analysis, data analytics or other applicable skills.
- Some understanding on broader capital markets, financial instruments, and credit investment strategies
- Proven experience in collateral management, document control, or a similar role within the financial services industry.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling or data analysis
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (strong proficiency in Excel), some understating of SQL preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with strong-problem solving skills.
