Summary
The Centralized Intake program serves people and families experiencing homelessness in Delaware by connecting people and families experiencing homelessness to appropriate shelter and housing resources. The Intake Specialist is responsible for providing high quality customer service and assistance to people experiencing homelessness in Delaware via phone ,text, and email, conducting intake assessments, and making referrals to emergency shelter resources.
HYRBID: Housing Alliance Delaware is a hybrid organization. Employees work from home, as well as in the office when needed. At times, staff visit homeless service sites in the community to visit with clients and partner organizations in person.
Responsibilities
· Respond in a timely manner and professionally to inquiries from individuals/families experiencing homelessness by phone and email
· Conduct client assessments over the phone
· Input quality data into Community Management Information System (CMIS), and use CMIS to track bed availability and make referrals to emergency shelters in Delaware
· Utilize a trauma-informed, housing first, and client centered approach to the provision of client services
· Embrace mission-focused approach in all work
· Maintain professional approach to work; follow all program policies and procedures
· Participate in the overall smooth operation of the agency
· Build and maintain strong relationships, develop mutually beneficial collaborations and ensure a continuum of services through coordination and linkages with community partners
· Develop and maintain working knowledge of Delaware’s homeless assistance programs and resources
· Other duties as assigned by Centralized Intake Program Manager or Executive Director
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Social Work, Public Policy, Public Administration, Human Services, non-profit management or other related field, or minimum of two years of experience working in direct service with individuals/families experiencing homelessness or other vulnerable populations.
· Self-starter and ability to take initiative to perform work
· Customer Service and problem solving skills
· Excellent computer and data entry skills
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Ability to handle a fast paced environment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
