The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles ("HACLA") places great value on early-career talent and is currently accepting applications from law students for a paid internship starting WINTER 2024/SPRING 2025. HACLA values all contributions made by their law clerks and aims to ensure each law clerk has a meaningful and rewarding experience.

NATURE OF WORK
Performs legal research regarding HACLA litigation or transactional matters under attorney supervision; prepares legal education and training materials for Legal staff and employees throughout the agency; and prepares and updates reports and correspondence.
Assists in the development and implementation of agency policies and procedures; interprets federal or state statutes as well as HACLA policies under attorney supervision.
Assists in the review and revision of existing agency policies and procedures as well as the review, revision and creation of forms and documents to ensure they are compliant with law and best practices.
Assists with records retention in the department and throughout the agency.
Assists with discovery and unlawful detainer actions under the supervision of an attorney.
Works with other departments and agencies to gather and disseminate information.
Researches best practices of legal departments and public housing agencies.
- Develops and maintains departmental databases, records, and documentation; completes, types, copies, and files standardized documents; informs supervisor of policy and procedural activities
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Either (1) enrollment in an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited school of law or (2) graduation from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited school of law and eligibility to take the California State Bar Examination.
