BASIC PURPOSE: The Eligibility & Enrollment (E&E) specialist will be responsible for assessing applications, handling documentation, collecting information, entering data, and providing quality customer service to clients. The E & E Specialist will be responsible for accurate and complete files/transactions, resolution of customer service cases, and responsiveness to participant and client inquiries. Additionally, this position will interface with community partners including agency staff and landlords to expedite documentation and new projects, processes, or opportunities.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Responding to questions and providing detailed information on requirements, processes, and policies using motivational interviewing and trauma informed practices.

Collecting information and qualifying candidates for programs and services.

Ensuring the accurate completion of applications and that the required supporting materials have been provided.

Entering, updating, and reviewing client data and records.

Providing guidance and recommendations to applicants and prospective candidates.

Processing enrollments and re-certifications

Maintain weekly contact with an assigned caseload

Resolve client concerns and address barriers preventing access to housing

Assist clients with housing location by assisting with applications, calling landlords, and providing housing leads.

Provide excellent customer service to participants, co-workers, clients, and vendors

Conduct all job functions in alignment with the program policies procedures, regulations, and other state and local requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

High School Diploma required. Bachelor's degree in human services or related field preferred.

and

Minimum of 2 years of experience in human services work required.

Candidates with lived experience with homelessness or housing instability are encouraged to apply.

Maintain a valid driver license with own personal and reliable transportation

The Eligibility and Enrollment specialist may need to meet with clients in the community during scheduled work hours by driving their own vehicle. The county’s public transit system schedule does not support the timeliness of the work to be completed in the community. Therefore, personal reliable transportation is a requirement of this position.

Position Information:

Position Status: Full Time / Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

Work Location: In Office / Kalamazoo, MI 49008; remote work is not available

Compensation:

Pay Range: $16.00 – 17.00 hour; Employee Retention Bonus offered quarterly and annually.
