Temporary/Part-Time/Non-Exempt Position: 17 hours per week
Hourly Rate: $20.00
Schedule: February 10 through March 28, 2025
Mondays and Wednesday (8.5 hours per day)
8:00am – 4:30pm

Description: The Warming Center Coordinator is responsible for overseeing HRI’s daytime warming center serving the unhoused population. The Coordinator will ensure there is a safe and protected environment for guests and volunteers. Coordination and collaboration with program and operations managers, and food, security and housekeeping providers will be a key function.
This is a temporary part-time position while the center operates from Monday, February 10th through Friday, March 28, 2025 on Mondays and Wednesdays. Potential exists for this position to expand for a summer cooling center for interested candidates.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise facility activities to ensure the safety of guests.
- Enforce shelter rules uniformly and consistently. (Fair, Firm, and Consistent)
- Build community and foster dignity inside the Warming Center
- Maintain accurate guest records.
- Respect confidentiality at all times.
- Respond appropriately to needs and crisis situations, such as mediating basic interpersonal problems between guests and requesting emergency personnel if necessary. (On-site security; Public Safety)
- Provide advocacy, information, and referral services to guests.
- Coordinate with other social service agency workers to provide for guests needs.
- Oversee maintaining facility in a clean, sanitary, and safe condition.
- Follow and enforce program and organizational policies and procedures.
- Work as a team with coworkers and work independently without direct supervision.
- Develop positive relations with guests, while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Represent the organization professionally at all times.
- Perform opening and closing duties.
- Handle questions, and issues and provide information.
- Collect information and refer guests to coordinated entry services.
- Conduct all job functions in alignment with the program policies procedures, regulations, and other state and local requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS/SCOPE:
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma with experience working with people who are unhoused. Experience in homeless outreach, emergency shelter, human services, and community mental health supports preferred.
- Applicants who have lived experience with homelessness are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Candidate must have valid driver license and reliable personal transportation.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated ability for independent problem solving.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Strong organizational skills required.
- Basic computer skills are also required.
- Demonstrated management of customer satisfaction.
- Ability to coordinate the activities of others.
- Experience working independently and as a team member.
- Must communicate in large groups and with formal writing techniques.
- Demonstrated experience working with a diverse group of individuals.
- Must maintain confidentiality and possess a compassionate and professional manner.
- Professional work and punctuality habits are necessary to accomplish organizational goals.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license with no more than 6 points against driving record and have own transportation.
