Position Summary
The Director of Development is a key leadership role at Housing Solutions, focusing on fostering and expanding the organization’s relationships within the corporate community, increasing individual giving, and deepening foundational support. This position is vital for driving strategic fundraising initiatives that align with the organization's mission to end and prevent homelessness and housing instability. The Director of Development will report directly to the CEO and work closely with the Board of Directors to enhance and execute the organization’s fundraising strategy.
Primary Roles & Responsibilities
Strategic Fundraising Development:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that includes corporate partnerships, major gifts, individual giving, and private foundation grants.
- Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with current and potential corporate sponsors and individual donors.
- Secure funding for annual operations, specific programs, and special projects by establishing and achieving realistic fundraising goals.
- Donor Engagement:
- Design and execute targeted outreach and donor engagement programs to increase individual donor contributions.
- Develop and manage a donor recognition plan to ensure that supporters are acknowledged and appreciated in meaningful ways.
- Organize and oversee fundraising events and donor receptions.
- Foundation Relations:
- Cultivate and enhance relationships with private foundations.
- In partnership with the Director of Grants Management, oversee the preparation and submission of grant proposals and reports, ensuring compliance with grantor guidelines.
- Monitor trends in grant-making to strategically align Housing Solutions’ proposals with the interests of the foundations.
Leadership and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the Director of Public Policy & Communications and the Housing Solutions leadership team to create compelling fundraising materials and campaigns.
- Communicate with Housing Solutions’ executive leadership and program directors to understand the effectiveness of our programs and strategies, the impact of our work, and the needs of individuals and families experiencing homelessness across Tulsa.
- Serve as a key spokesperson for Housing Solutions at public events, in meetings with key stakeholders, and during fundraising activities.
- Reporting and Analysis:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on all fundraising activities and donor information in the donor database.
- Analyze fundraising data and generate reports to assess performance against fundraising goals.
- Regularly present fundraising updates to the CEO and Board of Directors.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of five years of professional experience in fundraising, development, or a closely related field, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
- Proven track record of developing successful partnerships and securing significant funding from corporations, foundations, and individual donors.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively.
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills, with an ability to use data to inform decisions and strategy.
- Proficiency in donor database software and Microsoft Office Suite.

- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary for donor events and meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Working Environment
This is a hybrid position, with the average work week including both remote days and in-person work at our Tulsa office. May require occasional travel for meetings, conferences, and site visits mostly within the Tulsa metro area. This is a full-time salaried position working 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday.
