Position Overview
The Director of Fund Development is a key leadership role at Housing Solutions, focusing on fostering and expanding the organization’s relationships within the corporate community, increasing individual giving, and deepening foundational support. This position is vital for driving strategic fundraising initiatives that align with the organization's mission to end and prevent homelessness and housing instability. The Director of Development will report directly to the CEO and work closely with the Board of Directors to enhance and execute the organization’s fundraising strategy.
Primary Roles & Responsibilities
- Strategic Fundraising Development – Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including corporate partnerships, major gifts, individual giving, and private foundation grants. Build and maintain relationships with key donors and sponsors to secure funding for annual operations, programs, and special projects.
- Donor Engagement – Design and implement targeted donor outreach programs, manage donor recognition efforts, and oversee fundraising events to enhance donor retention and satisfaction.
- Foundation Relations – Cultivate relationships with private foundations, coordinate grant proposals and compliance with the Grants Director, and align funding requests with foundation priorities and trends.
- Leadership and Collaboration – Collaborate with the Public Policy & Communications team and leadership to create compelling fundraising campaigns. Represent Housing Solutions at public events and engage with stakeholders to communicate the impact of our work and advocate for funding support.
- Reporting and Analysis – Maintain accurate donor records, analyze fundraising data, and provide regular performance updates to the CEO and Board of Directors to ensure transparency and goal alignment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of five years of professional experience in fundraising, development, or a related field, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
- A proven track record of developing successful partnerships and securing significant funding from corporations, foundations, and individual donors.
