SUMMARY
We currently have a unique opportunity for an experienced Senior Staff Accountant, who will focus on the real estate development primarily in the low-income housing tax credit industry. The Position will report to the Controller of Development Department and work with two development staff members and Property Management staff to ensure that all reporting is accurate and timely met.
The Position will be a primary contributor to the production of reports vital to managements and their decision making. The Position will generate financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to provide senior management with the tools to make financial decision and mitigate risk.
Our Senior Staff Accountant for Development is a salaried position that may require investment of time and effort beyond a traditional work week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Generate monthly development budgets and compare actual to budget.
- Generate monthly financial statements
- Maintain various schedules for land deposits
- Facilitate the flow of information to the auditors for year-end audits, 10% test report, cost certification, and tax returns.
- Prepare monthly pre-development budget for various seed projects (20 ).
- Review accounting entries to numerous registers, journals, and logs
- Follow the Companys established accounting processes.
- Review accounts payable activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness of the invoice creation and entry
- Perform bank reconciliations as required
- Regularly maintain detailed reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts
- Prepare documentation for external auditors
- Work with developers to ensure construction draws are paid in a timely manner
- Provide detailed analysis and explanations of all transactions
EDUCATION (OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE)
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience.
- Preference will be given to candidates that have experience in the low-income housing tax credit segment of the industry.
- 4 years experience in construction/real estate development accounting
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Proficiency and aptitude for general accounting software programs, including Microsoft Office, Sage/Timberline, Office Connector, Yardi and Onesite.
- Intermediate to Advance Excel skills preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
