Compensation Range: $17.00/hr - $19.80/hr commensurate with experience

Overview:
The Custodian is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the building’s offices and office bathrooms and assisting with furniture assembly.
Responsibilities:
Primary:
Adhere to the custodial and preventative maintenance plan to ensure that the facility’s common spaces - pantry area, bathrooms, offices, residential spaces- - are clean, sanitary, and properly stocked with supplies.
Secondary:
- Assist clients to prepare for moving out of the hotel program by assisting them with packing and inventorying their belongings.
Other functions that may be required with this position include:
- Emptying trash bins, shredders and recycling bins throughout the day and sanitize containers weekly.
- Dusting and vacuuming all offices and common spaces, and polishing applicable metal work, as needed.
- Move and assemble office furniture, when necessary.
- Assemble cribs when necessary.
- Participate in advocacy and direct action to end the twin crises of homelessness and HIV/AIDS.
KPIs:
- Improve facility maintenance operations by ensuring that work orders are closed promptly, and maintenance tasks are completed to the highest standards of quality.
- Close 95% of work orders within the specified time frame.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED is a plus.
Qualifications:
- Experience with and proven commitment to working with low-income and marginalized communities, as well as individuals with multiple chronic medical and/or behavioral health conditions.

- Excellent internal and external customer service skills and strong interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions:
- Able to lift 50lbs., carry and remove trash, and climb a ladder.
- The Custodian position is one which requires the staff person to be present in the program site 100% of the time.
- The Custodian must handle cleaning chemicals and solvents daily.
This position is included in a bargaining unit of Housing Works’ New York City employees represented by a labor union known as the Retail Wholesale and Department Store Union (“RWDSU”). Accordingly, the RWDSU has the exclusive right to bargain over the terms and conditions of employment related to this position and this position may become covered by the terms of a collective bargaining agreement (a “CBA”) between Housing Works and the RWDSU
