Housing Works fights for funding and legislation to ensure that all people living with HIV/AIDS have access to quality housing, healthcare, HIV prevention, and treatment, among other lifesaving services.

Compensation Range: $65,000 - 68,000/year commensurate with experience.
Overview:
The Dispensary Loss Prevention Manager is one of the leaders responsible for the overall operation of a community-based Housing Works Dispensary. Our ideal Asset Protection manager is – first and foremost – an ambassador for Housing Works, prioritizing customer service over all other tasks. You must know, embody, and actively communicate our Mission Statement, be active in the local community, and work to create an environment and culture that is reflective of the Housing Works Community Values. The Asset Protection Manager must possess an entrepreneurial spirit with a talent for using existing resources to maximize revenue and profit. In this role, you will work alongside the COO and Budmaster Store Manager to lead the loss prevention training and development of the team, empower employees to work together to reach organizational goals and objectives, and serve as their number one cheerleader and coach. The responsibility of the Asset Protection Manager is to support the organization’s strategic plans focusing on sales, profitability, shrinkage, operations, and safety. The Asset Protection Manager must provide leadership, expertise, and training to operational staff ensuring understanding and compliance. The Asset Protection Manager must work with key stakeholders to ensure that best practices are established without adding complexity to the Dispensary’s operations. They must work effectively under pressure, adapt well and support change while balancing multiple priorities.
Primary:
- Develop, implement, and ensure the dispensary's compliance with security, inventory, and local and state regulations.
- Fully implement Housing Works’ customer service program, showcasing exemplary customer service, including but not limited to greeting, saying thank you, explaining policies clearly and politely to the satisfaction of the customer, and by prioritizing assisting customers over all other shop tasks.
- Conduct bi-monthly audits on current operations in the dispensary focusing on inventory control, loss prevention and safety. Identify key performance indicators to track and trend, identify possible weaknesses, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Evaluate current policy and procedure manual and update. Annually review the adequacy of the manual with assessments on whether it accurately incorporates policies of operations in the departments.
- Develop and implement enhancements to existing training programs for current employees and new hires that address prevention of employee and customer theft, key elements of good customer service and best practices for store managers for effective store management.
- Create assessments on inventory control and accuracy in relation to the POS system. Assess and update all cash handling policies and develop procedures and expectations that managers can uphold.
- Audit all department cash handling procedures for daily sales. Report findings to COO and Budmaster.
- Conduct investigations and interviews for inventory loss, cash loss and breach of company policy and procedures.
- Report quarterly to VP of Compliance on compliance to established policies and procedures and best practices. Critically analyze where problems exist and devise, implement, and monitor action plans to address non-compliance.
- Oversee and manage the vendor invoices by working closely with the Dispensary Buyer, ensuring all invoices are received, correctly coded, and filed. Ensure contractual agreements are upheld. Monitor and support vendor relationships, ensuring strong relationships in accordance with our corporate values.
- Assess and maintain emergency and safety systems in the dispensary.
- Network and liaise with local law enforcement and legal counsel as necessary. Provide a safe environment for customers and staff.
- Develop partnerships by an open line of communication with staff and Admin staff, building positive business relationships.
- Other duties as directed by your supervisor, CRO, President, and Cannabis board members.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending training meetings/sessions and through independent study.
- Be a Housing Works Ambassador by knowing and communicating the Mission Statement, outreaching to the community, and participating in a minimum of four direct actions per year aimed at ending the twin crises of homelessness and HIV/AIDS.
- Open/Close the Dispensary as needed and be aware of all POS functions.
Secondary:
- Work with the Budmaster to recruit, interview, hire, and train all associates. Conduct progressive coaching/counseling as necessary to ensure associates are meeting established standards.
- Encourage teamwork and foster creativity. Recognize talent and help to develop individuals for advancement within the organization.
Other Functions:
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending training meetings/sessions and through independent study.
- Be a Housing Works Ambassador by knowing and communicating the Mission Statement, outreaching to the community, and participating in a minimum of four direct actions per year aimed at ending the twin crises of homelessness and HIV/AIDS
- High School Diploma or the equivalent, College degree preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years prior Asset Protection experience; Cannabis knowledge or dispensary leadership experience a plus.
- Must stay current and adhere to all policies and regulations of the state cannabis agency.
- Must meet age requirement as outlined by state cannabis agency; This role requires the candidate to be at least 21 years or older.
- Able to pass all background checks as required by state cannabis agency. · Intermediate-level math skills
- Familiarity with OSHA, fire safety, and regulatory compliance for buildings and facilities in New York City.
- Dependable & flexible as well as possessing the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Must have Wicklander Zulawski certification
- Project management and Salesforce experience preferred.
- Good communication skills, both verbally and written, including the ability to communicate with all levels of management.
- Strong interpersonal, coaching, and administrative skills.

- Ability to prioritize and multi-task, to manage multiple projects at once.

Essential Physical Demands/Working:
- Flexibility in schedule; weekends and holidays are required; may be required to work over 40 hours a week as necessary with prior approval from Budmaster and CRO.
- Must be flexible and be able to open and close the dispensary as well as operate the POS as business needs require.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, kneel, and bend
- for long periods of time. Frequently required to lift a minimum of 40 pounds with assistance.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, articulations and instruction of policy and procedure.
- Coach staff in accordance with organizational policy and best practices. Occasionally required to traverse public transportation to attend meetings and/or participate in presentations and training seminars.
- Occasionally required to work at a computer approximately 20% of the time, 80% of the time will be interacting with staff and customers, this position may not be performed remotely.
