Housing Works fights for funding and legislation to ensure that all people living with HIV / AIDS have access to quality housing, healthcare, HIV prevention, and treatment, among other lifesaving services.

Benefits :

We have three comprehensive healthcare plans to choose from based on your priorities and budget. Housing Works covers most of the plan; you pay a portion, based on your salary. Staff begins accruing PTO immediately for a total of up to 30 days earned in the first year. We offer employees an educational benefit. This money is available for tuition loan reimbursement, tuition costs, and text books.

Compensation Range : $70,000 - $75,000 yearly commensurate with experience

Overview :

The Ready for Work program has a nearly 30-year history of empowering individuals to successfully enter or reenter the workforce. Originally designed to assist those recovering from chronic illness or behavioral health challenges, the program now focuses on supporting young adults as they navigate the complexities of employment. Through a holistic approach to workforce readiness, the program equips participants with essential soft skills, resume writing expertise, and interview techniques. It also provides individualized counseling and support to address barriers such as personal challenges, skill gaps, or other factors that may hinder job retention.

Additionally, Ready for Work offers risk reduction and prevention education to promote the health and well-being of young adults, addressing critical issues that may impact their long-term success. The Program Manager will play a pivotal role in facilitating these services, supporting the day-to-day operations, and ensuring the program's lasting impact by working closely with participants, staff, and community partners under the guidance of the Program Director.

Responsibilities :

  • Coordinate and provide oversight of daily program activities, including workshops and training sessions.
  • Maintain a schedule of program offerings and ensure all sessions are adequately staffed and prepared.
  • Facilitate communication between instructors, participants, and staff to ensure seamless operations.
  • Assist in participant recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts.
  • Track participant progress and outcomes using appropriate tools and databases.
  • Provide support to participants and staff during instances of crisis, conflict or transition.
  • Collaborate with local employers, training institutions, and community organizations to identify opportunities for internships, job placements, or further education for participants.
  • Work with RFW team to organize employer engagement events, such as job fairs or site visits.
  • Collect and maintain accurate participant records and program data.
  • Assist in preparing reports to funders and stakeholders, showcasing program outcomes and impact.
  • Manage program logistics, including scheduling, material preparation, and space setup.
  • Support budget tracking and procurement of supplies and resources.
  • Ensure compliance with program policies and standards.
  • Participate in program and agency QA activities to ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Maintain practice of continuous quality improvement, responding to funder, staff and participant feedback.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Social Work, Education, Workforce Development, or Public Administration) or equivalent experience.
  • Master's degree a plus.
  • At least two years of experience in program operations, program coordination, workforce development, or related roles, preferably in a non-profit or community-based setting.
  • Experience working with target population, e.g., young adults, individuals from low-income communities, etc.
  • Experience designing and executing workforce development programs.
  • Ability to help develop engaging curriculum and workshops focused on soft skills, resume writing, interview preparation, and career planning.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care or motivational interviewing techniques.
  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities (specific languages preferred based on community needs).
  • Experience working with target population of low-income young adults.
  • Understanding of various workforce programs and models.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and harm reduction.
  • Strong skills in problem-solving, conflict resolution, and boundary-setting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to think critically and creatively, and exercise good judgment
  • Working knowledge of current office, computer and social media technologies.
  • Ability to travel to appointments, meetings, conferences, etc. for job-related business.
  • Cultural sensitivity, empathy, resilience, teamwork, and commitment to advocacy for individuals facing housing instability
  • Knowledge of the challenges facing at-risk young adults in employment contexts.
  • Familiarity with vocational training and workforce development best practices.
  • Experience in community engagement or participatory program design
  • Salary : $70,000 - $75,000
