As the Life Skills Mentor Supervisor oversees the coordination of residential client services and day-to-day operations within the Transitional Housing program, ensuring a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for domestic violence survivors and their children. This role provides leadership, guidance, and supervision to the Life Skills Mentor team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality programming and supportive services that promote client safety, stability, and personal growth. The Supervisor collaborates with internal departments and external partners to maintain program integrity, ensure compliance with funding requirements, and foster a trauma-informed approach to services.

- Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Work Model: 100% onsite
- Local Travel: 25%
Our Total Compensation Package:
- Annual Compensation: $56,500
- Pay schedule: semi-monthly

Qualifications
The Requirements We are Seeking:
- Bachelor degree in Public Health, Psychology, Counseling, Sociology, Social Work, Sociology or Criminal Justice and 1 year experience
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience in a social services or case management, preferably in a residential setting.
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to issues of domestic and/or sexual violence
- Knowledge of community resources for adults and children needing emergency services including legal, financial support, housing and/or basic needs
- Working knowledge of Texas laws pertaining to family violence, as well as the justice system's response to domestic violence
- Familiarity with legal services, resources, and procedures available to victims in each county where services are provided
- Proven skill of crisis management is preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams).
- Texas driver’s license with a good driving record; ability to travel to off-site locations, utilizing personal transportation. MVR required – Must be able to drive van
What you Deliver in this role:
- You will plan and implement safe, developmentally appropriate activities for the children in the program using the four developmental domains (cognitive, language, physical, and socio-emotional).
- You will provide positive guidance to children that include the following practices: redirecting, modeling, discussion, and positive reinforcement.
- You will maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment that promises a commitment to children and supports a variety of learning opportunities where children are free to discover and explore.
- You will communicate daily with parents about their children and give appropriate guidance, when necessary, regarding early childhood development.
- You will work within the Child and Adult Care Food Program guidelines to ensure that each child receives optimal nutrition.
- You will recognize, document, and take appropriate action in case of suspected abuse, illness and/or accident, reporting the incident.
- You will assist with play time, after-school, summer enrichment program, field trips and special events.
- You will ensure compliance with all grantors standards, Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services, Houston Area Women’s Center policies and procedures, and all other contract standards as required.
- You will be able to read, speak, and write in English fluently.
- Other duties may be assigned.
What Skills and Assets you bring, and more:
- Provide leadership, supervision, and training to the Life Skills Mentor team to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality crisis intervention, safety planning, mentoring, and supportive services to residents in the Transitional Housing program.
- Oversee the creation of a positive and safe living environment by modeling and reinforcing non-violent conflict resolution skills and facilitating mediation between residents when needed.
- Coordinate and monitor client services, including orientations, intakes, group house meetings, and exit processes, ensuring all residents understand program expectations, available resources, and transitional support services.
- Supervise the assignment and monitoring of residents’ personal responsibilities within the apartment-based living environment, encouraging accountability, cooperative living, and adherence to program guidelines.
- Enforce residential policies and procedures to maintain a safe and supportive environment, ensuring compliance with program standards, grantor requirements, and funding regulations.
- Attend and facilitate case meetings, providing feedback, guidance, and observations to develop individualized action plans for residents. Collaborate with internal departments and external service providers to address client needs and resolve challenges.
- Oversee accurate and timely documentation of client services, including documentation of services, incident reports, and statistical data, using designated software systems. Review team records regularly to ensure compliance with reporting deadlines and program requirements.
- Promote the safety, cleanliness, and maintenance of apartment units and shared living spaces by conducting regular inspections, addressing safety concerns, and ensuring incident reports are completed and reviewed.
- Monitor reports of potential abuse and/or neglect, ensuring timely referrals to the appropriate authorities, including Child Protective Services (CPS) and Adult Protective Services (APS).
- Provide ongoing support to residents and the Life Skills Mentor team by fostering open communication, addressing concerns, and offering guidance on best practices for resident engagement and service delivery.
- Assist in the development and implementation of program procedures, staff schedules, and workflows to ensure effective shelter operations.
- Complete administrative tasks, including payroll approvals, performance evaluations, reimbursement requests, and other operational documentation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Lead and participate in staff training and professional development opportunities to enhance program quality, trauma-informed practices, and team performance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the success of the Transitional Housing program and its residents.
