The Manager of Philanthropy is a new position with the Houston Area Women’s Center that will support the Philanthropy arm and all revenue generating objectives of the Advancement and Public Strategies team. The Manager will join a growing and strategic fundraising team committed to elevating philanthropy for the organization and will be a key part of developing and executing a strategic, innovative, and collaborative advancement plan.
This position is essential to our growth and sustainability. Under the guidance of the Vice President of Philanthropy, the Manager will have a passion for philanthropy and campaign coordination, focusing on the revenue objectives that are part of funding the work we do to build a safer community. Survivors are at the heart of HAWC, and we need a passionate and experienced development professional to help inspire past, current, and new donors to support the mission.
Your Schedule:
- Monday – Friday: 9 A.M. – 6 P.M. OR 8:30 A.M.– 5:30 P.M.
- Monday – Thursday in office; Friday work from home
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Local Travel: Up to 25% to Houston-area meetings, media outlets, strategic partners, etc.
Our Total Compensation Package:
- Annual Compensation: $80,000 annually

Qualifications
The Requirements We are Seeking:
- Bachelor's degree.
- A minimum of three years of experience in progressive fundraising, development, or advancement.
- A minimum of two years of experience working in mid to large-nonprofit agency strongly preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Professional English.
- Experience in volunteer management and event planning is a plus.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams).
- Proficiency in CRM database management, Raiser’s Edge Preferred
- Computer savvy able to learn new systems and applications quickly.
What you Deliver in this role:
Administration & Support
- Assist in planning and execution of fundraising campaigns, donor appeals and special events.
- Support the President of Advancement and Public Strategies, philanthropy leadership team with administrative needs related to fundraising, campaigns, donor research and
- engagement, preparing reports/proposals, scheduling meetings/tours, and tracking departmental goals. • Respond to all monetary and in-kind donation email inquiries and phone calls in a timely and courteous manner.
- Ensure thorough and proactive follow-up with internal and external contacts, addressing requests with accuracy and persistence until all needs are met.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive donor records by tracking key interactions, relationships, communications, interests, demographics, motivations, and attributes in fundraising and volunteer databases, ensuring alignment with Development Operations.
Volunteer Engagement
- Coordinate and manage volunteer engagement activities related to philanthropic initiatives.
- Lead and grow engagement with the Houston Area Women’s Center Young Leaders (HAWCYL) volunteer group.
- Work closely with philanthropy leadership team to maintain volunteer database and ensure effective communication to volunteers.
- Serve as liaison with other departments regarding corporate and community volunteer issues, needs, and concerns.
Strategic Planning
- Assist in the expansion of long-term fundraising strategies including recurring gift programs.
- Work closely with VP of Philanthropy to set fundraising goals, track progress, and discuss strategies.
- Support in the preparation of board reports, presentations and strategic plans related to philanthropy efforts.
Cross- Departmental Collaboration
- Manage logistics in coordination with the Development Operations team.
- Work closely with Development Operations to ensure accurate gift processing and reconciliation.
- Utilize moves management to elevate returning donors to mid-level giving.
