Being a Residential Cook Shift 3 is responsible for food preparation, cooking, serving, and cleaning tasks to ensure the kitchen remains safe, sanitary, and efficient in creating and delivering dishes to clients. In this role, the Residential Cook is responsible for serving a minimum of 125 client meals per day. This role is a fun and fast-paced environment with a dynamic team.

- Starting Pay Rate: $17.02 hourly

Qualifications
The Requirements We are Seeking:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- A minimum of one year of food service experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
- Maintain a valid Food Management Certificate
- Maintain a valid Culinary Certificate, preferred.
- You have a valid Texas driver’s license with a good driving record; reliable transportation; ability to travel to off-site locations utilizing personal transportation.
What you Deliver in this role:
- You will monitor food inventories and document according to donor guidelines (Houston Food Bank etc.)
- You will prepare three meals per day for clients residing at the Flagship Campus at posted meal-times with adherence to approved menus.
- You will abide by enterprise process for accommodating clients with food restrictions/special diets (i.e. cultural or medical).
- You will prepare sack lunches in advance for clients that will not be located at the Flagship Campus during posted meal-times.
- You will prepare food with sanitation in mind and follow all safety protocols established by the enterprise, city, state, and federal standards (i.e. food storage, food labeling, food rotation, preparation, and serving of food).
- You will serve food in accordance with enterprise, CACFP, city, state, and federal standards.
- You will ensure compliance with Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines for meal preparation and portion control.
- You will ensure accurate documentation required by Child and Adult Food Care Program, HAWC, the Houston Food Bank, and the End Hunger Network.
- You will clean all equipment and surfaces in the kitchen during and after meal preparation.
- You will ensure the logging of refrigerator/ freezer temperatures daily.
- You will maintain proper uniform and personal hygiene standards.
- You will ensure that interns and volunteers comply with all established sanitation and safety procedures.
- You will ensure that interns clean the tables and floors in the dining area.
- You will assume responsibility for the freshness and quality of items prepared.
- You will immediately refrigerate or store in a holding tray all items not to be served immediately.
- You will substitute donated products when appropriate.
- You will clean all dishes in accordance with the City of Houston guidelines.
- You will examine all donated and purchased food in the receiving area before storing.
- You will reject damaged/infested food items.
- You will monitor food inventories.
- You will adjust inventories to reflect receipt and use of food.
- You will attending necessary training and in-services as required.
- Other duties may be assigned.
