What are the responsibilities and job description for the Violence Prevention Training Specialist position at Houston Area Womens Center?
Being the Violence Prevention Training Specialist will design, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate training for strategic partners including criminal justice professionals and system-based advocates. Additionally, the Violence Prevention Training Specialist will be responsible for collaboration with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with agency and funder requirements.

- Monday-Friday 9 a.m.- 6 p.m.
- Work Model: Hybrid
- Local Travel: 25%

The Requirements We are Seeking:
- Bachelors degree in Public Health, Education, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Counseling, Social Services, or Sociology.
OR - High school diploma or equivalent and four additional years of additional experience.

A minimum of two years of experience in training and development in a social services, education, or criminal justice setting.
Strong knowledge of competency assessment methodologies and training program design. - Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams).
- Computer savvy and able to learn new applications and systems quickly.
- Strong data-entry skills.
- Bilingual in both English and Spanish, able to read, speak, and write both languages fluently, strongly preferred.
- Excellent public speaking skills.
- You have a valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record; reliable transportation; ability to travel to off-site locations utilizing personal transportation.
What you Deliver in this role:
- You will train by utilizing a public health model focused on interpersonal violence including domestic violence, intimate partner violence, teen dating violence, sexual assault, and sex trafficking.
- You will develop, coordinate, and train criminal justice strategic partners, specifically law enforcement working with survivors.
- You will identify, develop, and maintain key partnerships that relate to the goals of training services, and serving on committees and task forces as needed.
- You will coordinate and lead all training activities as part of the proposed project.
- You will oversee assessment protocols and work with the compliance team to ensure accountability and outcomes are achieved.
- You will represent the agency at relevant internal and external community meetings, events, and on task forces.
- You will mandatory Reporting: report suspected and prior abuse/neglect to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services when appropriate.
- You will attend and complete OAG Sexual Assault Certified Training
- Other duties/projects may be assigned.
