Job Overview:
Houston Ballet is hiring a full-time, entry-level IT Support Technician.  The Entry-Level Information Technology (IT) Administrative & Audio Visual (AV) Support Technician will provide basic, trouble-shooting support for audiovisual (AV) systems, video conferencing, live streaming, and general IT desktop support for the Houston Ballet Center for Dance and the Box Office.  This role involves assisting with the maintenance and setup of AV systems, providing desktop troubleshooting, and ensuring smooth operation of IT-related systems across the organization.   Other administrative support responsibilities are included.  The position reports to the Network Administrator and collaborates with other IT staff and departments.

This is an on-site position located in Houston, Texas.  The regular working hour for this full-time position are Tuesday – Saturday, from 12 noon – 7 pm.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • AV Equipment Setup and Support: Assist with setting up and configuring audiovisual equipment for rehearsals, meetings, and events.
  • Daily Maintenance: Perform routine checks and maintenance of AV systems, desktop computers, and other IT equipment in studios, conference rooms, and lobby displays.
  • Desktop Support: Provide basic IT troubleshooting and support for end-user computers, software, and peripherals (including Windows and Apple devices).
  • Video Conferencing: Assist with setting up and troubleshooting video conferencing tools such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams for meetings and events.
  • Event Support: Help with technical support for live streaming events, including Box Office, Dance Talks and other events.
  • Vendor and IT Coordination: Assist in coordinating service requests, repairs, and maintenance with vendors, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Documentation & Training: Help create and maintain basic documentation and provide end-user training on AV and IT systems.
  • Procurement Assistance: Assist with IT procurement processes, including paperwork, equipment tracking, and inventory management.
  • Weekly Team Meetings: Attend and contribute to weekly team meetings to discuss ongoing support tasks, projects, and updates.
  • Other Administrative Duties: Provide administrative support to the IT department as needed, including organizing tasks and tracking service tickets.

 

Qualifications:
Experience with:

  • Basic AV system configuration and troubleshooting; certification is a plus!
  • Familiarity with Windows 11 OS and basic computer hardware
  • Experience using Apple devices (Apple TV, iPad, iOS)
  • Basic knowledge of Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or other video conferencing software
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP) is a plus
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical staff

  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic IT issues independently
  • Willingness to learn and grow in IT-related areas, including AV systems and network administration
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
