Summary:
The Summer Intensive Program Nurse is a seasonal position responsible for ensuring the well-being of our 200 Summer students. This position supports the Academy staff and Summer Chaperones to alleviate the need for frequent trips to urgent care or the doctor’s office. This person must be a board-certified RN. The dates of employment are from June 21 - July 25, 2025. Regular hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:00am – 2:00pm, with an hourly rate of pay of $30/hr.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned
- Assists students with First Aid and minor health issues
- Assists in determining when a student needs to see an outside caregiver
- Coordinates referrals and visits to outside healthcare facilities
- Assists and oversees the prevention of communicable diseases
- Performs lice screenings as necessary
- Communicates the status of students’ health to Academy staff, chaperones, and families if applicable
- Maintains records of students’ treatment & reviews student health profiles in CampDoc
- Maintains and promotes a clean, healthy workspace
- With assistance from Houston Ballet Academy Staff, ensure that any students with daily medications are using them adequately; report any concerns to Academy Administration
Minimum REQUIRED Qualifications:
- Must be board-certified Registered Nurse
Preferred ADDITIONAL Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with dancers or student athletes
- Prior experience with communicable diseases and/or lice identification and prevention
- Prior experience with allergies and epi-pens
- Prior experience with electronic documentation
Work Environment:
- Well-lit, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.
- Regular – Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 11:00am-2:00pm.
- Separate evaluation room within shared Body Conditioning studio – including evaluation table, chair, and sink
