What are the responsibilities and job description for the Success Coach, Workforce (Grant Funded) position at Houston Community College?
JOB SUMMARY
Coach prospective career and technical education students through the enrollment and completion process.
Provides guidance with education planning, major selection, and completion of job placement activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Conduct pre-enrollment workshops, and coordinate schedule and content of weekly Center for Excellence Programs Information Sessions with the Directors of COE.
Teach workforce students the skills to self-navigate to degree completion utilizing campus information, student on-line system and campus resources.
Assist workforce students with major selection, degree plan completion and appropriate documentation process.
Collaborate with advisors in education activities for students on the steps necessary to complete the enrollment process including attendance to their COE Program Information Sessions.
Work closely with registrar and financial aid office staff to assist workforce students who are entering the college.
Coordinate with Job Placement office, COE Directors and industry, seminars for Resume writing, interview skills for student and Job Fair events planning and operational support.
Provide workforce students information regarding student life opportunities to include student activities and organizations on campus.
Assist College Access and Community Outreach with admission processes for new workforce students.
Assist non-traditional population in retention activities of the college including : Conduct workshops (i.e., financial literacy, study skills, support services, etc. ).
May work flexible hours; which include evenings and weekends.
Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required. QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required
- 1 year experience with advising / retention in a college or university required
- Previous experience working with Non-traditional, 1st year or new student programs, and students of diverse cultures and ethnic backgrounds preferred

Working Conditions
General Office. Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner. Must access, input and retrieve information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
