JOB TITLE: Work-Based Learning Teacher Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must meet minimum state certification requirements in accordance with the CTE program area including:
a. Two years experience in a career and technical education field or two years experience as a career and technical education administrator.
b. Must have completed the work-based learning preparation course at a regionally accredited institution.
- Completion of all state requirements to gain teacher certification.
- Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

REPORTS TO: Career and Technical Education Director
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, organize, and conduct a work-based learning program designed to develop skills, technical knowledge, and work habits to enable students to meet employment standards of cooperating industry partners.
- Plan and conduct interest meetings with potential students to explain rules, expectations, and work based learning procedures.
- Plan and conduct meetings throughout the summer with potential cooperating industry partners seeking work based learning student workers.
- Make on the job coordination visits to ensure training objectives are met.
- Coordinate the training experiences of employed students throughout the summer.
- Coordinate summer student workers across Houston County Schools
- Work with students to align employment opportunities with long term career goals.
- Works as a liaison between Houston County Schools and cooperating industry partners to ensure a positive experience for both students and employers.
- Maintains a working relationship with community and state agencies involved in assigned area.
- Coordinates work experiences and job shadowing experiences that emerge from students’ involvement in the program.
- Follows program guidelines established by the State Department of Education for assigned Career/Technical Program.
- Works to identify and define local job opportunities available to Program graduates.
- Establishes and maintains efficient record-keeping procedures.
- Prepares and submits timely reports required by Houston County Schools and the Alabama State Department of Education.
- Strives to ensure safety procedures and proper handling of materials and equipment are being followed at employment locations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of child development and especially of characteristics of students in the age group assigned.
- Knowledge of workforce trends related to the program area.
- Knowledge of the prescribed curriculum.
- Knowledge of current educational research.
- Basic understanding and knowledge of current technology.
- Knowledge of learning styles and skills in using varied teaching methods to address student learning styles.
- Skill in oral and written communication with students, parents, and others.
- Ability to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness.
- Ability to assess levels of student achievement effectively, analyze test results and prescribe actions for improvement.
- Ability to maintain appropriate student supervision so that students have a safe and orderly environment in which to learn.
- Ability to work effectively with peers, administrators, and others.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system’s approved compensation plan.
Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
