POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Operating Officer for Houston Eye Associates (HEA) will provide operational leadership to the HEA organization that results in an organized, effective and well-managed network of physician practices. This leader will work with the Chief Executive Officer to focus on physician engagement, alignment, recruitment, retention strategies and to employment effective systems, processes and standards for HEA employed physicians.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for fostering a healthy working relationship between departments, medical staff and other affiliated services so as to maintain HEAs vision and core values.
Provides operational leadership.
Maintains authority for setting policies and procedures for the departments that are consistent with the policies and procedures set by the HEA Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer and fall in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Work collaboratively with the Controller on capital and operating budget planning and maintenance or as needed.
Ensures appropriate level of understanding, awareness, and compliance with all applicable federal, state and agency laws, regulations and guidelines, and professional standards.
Continually improves services to support the physician enterprise.
Executive is responsible for and has decision making authority regarding the organization in the absence of the Chief Executive Officer.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate. Work is performed in an office environment. Work may be stressful at times. Staff must remain flexible and available to provide staffing assistance for any/all disaster or emergency situations. Ability to periodically lift up to 25 lbs.
Classified as having no occupational exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens.

Qualifications
COMPETENCIES
EDUCATION Bachelors degree from an accredited university or equivalent
Masters degree in business or health care administration preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES
EXPERIENCE Minimum of five (5) years of health services management at the upper management level in the managed health care or insurance industry.
