Role :
Responsible in supporting Human Resource management with HR functions for the credit union. Handles processes for onboarding of new employees and coordinating with various agencies. Processes payroll on a bi-weekly basis. Coordinates the applicant tracking systems and assists hiring managers by moving candidates through the system. Responsible for employee personnel records and ensuring files are kept in accordance with guidelines. Provides support to employees who need assistance with employee benefits, or other HR related questions. Maintains confidentiality with all duties and information.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities :
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; documentation of disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and processes bi-weekly payroll.
- Assist with recruitment, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaboration with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Helps maintain the Applicant Tracking System.
- Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs. Performs employee on-boarding and orientations for all new hires which includes set up in various HR systems.
- Maintain employee personnel records. Create employee files, both in paper and electronic form, and file personnel records.
- Conducts or acquires background checks, credit checks, and employee eligibility verifications for all new hires.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and / or sensitive matters to appropriate management.
- May attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Qualifications :
A successful candidate for this role will have multiple years' experience in recruitment, employee onboarding, training and development, performance management, employee relations, benefits administration, processing payroll, compliance with federal and multi-state labor laws, and ideally, a demonstrated ability to navigate complex situations while fostering a positive work culture.
Knowledge and Skills :
Experience - Two years to five years of similar or related experience in Human Resources. Experience with payroll, benefits, workers compensation, FMLA / absence leave laws, and 401(k)administration.
Education - (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g. HR certifications in lieu of a degree).
Interpersonal Skills - Work involves much personal contact with others inside and / or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Other Skills - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state employment law and compliance requirements. Payroll, benefits, and employee relations experience.
