What will I be doing?

• Support H-GAC’s Area Agency on Aging by overseeing and monitoring home repair projects from conception to completion
• Conduct client interviews, assess home repair needs, and make work recommendations
• Review construction plans and bids to determine they are in accordance with local building codes, priced reasonably and appropriate for the modification
• Monitor of home construction sites to ensure modifications meet approved construction authorization and maintain an up-to-date record of construction activity and completion
• Act as liaison between client and contractor to keep up high levels of communication throughout the work process
• Perform home inspections and approve final contractor’s home modification/repair
• Complete monthly reports on the status of work projects
• Regional travel approximately 80% of the time

Position requires working in agency's southwest satellite office located in Richmond, Texas.

Key Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge in building codes, material analysis and cost, construction process, industrial standards and building structures.
• Knowledge of engineering principals and legal codes and policies
• Compassion for older adults and persons with disabilities
• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office software applications
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Maintain a Texas Driver’s License and auto insurance policy
• Maintain State approved construction inspector license or certificate (preferred)
• Experience as a home inspector (preferred)
• Speaking another language is a plus, but not required

Do you have…

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study
• 5 years of experience working with local government, nonprofit programs, school or in job related duties
