Class A Professional DriverRegular Full-TimeRequisition ID : 1797Schedule : Tuesday - Saturday Start time 6AMStarting Pay : $20.00 - $25.00POSITION SUMMARY : The Class A Professional Driver delivers and picks up donations in a timely and accurate manner, to and from donors to partner agencies, within the Houston Food Banks 18-county service area. These pick-ups and deliveries may include food, non-food, and / or already prepared food where the donor and / or partner agency may / may not be on site and their establishment may / may not be open, meaning unattended donation pick-ups and / or deliveries. These pick-ups and / or deliveries may vary and be after hours and / or occur every day of the year, including holidays while providing exemplary customer service to both Internal and External Customers.Adhere to PACT values. This position requires punctuality and dependable attendance to meet the needs of the business, including attending and taking part in meetings and presentations.Operate company vehicles over established routes while strictly adhering to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and guidelines. Vehicles must be operated in a safe and courteous manner.Comply with all established guidelines set by the Houston Food Bank, local, state, and federal guidelines / regulations while providing exemplary customer service to both internal and external customers.Interact with others professionally while on duty representing the organization.Responsible for jockey equipment in the yard, between Primary and Off-Site locations, to and from the maintenance provider, and as assigned by the leader.Maintain assigned equipment by performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections and notifying the leader of any issues with equipment.Deliver partner agency orders and / or donations in assigned equipment.Pick-up donated and / or purchased product from donors / vendors.Load / Unload partner agencys orders either by hand or use of a manual / electric pallet jack.Unload donations / purchases upon return to the domicile as directed by the leader.Complete trip report(s) for compliance and reporting and submit daily at the end of the shift.Complete and turn in all paperwork to the assigned / responsible persons / departments as instructed by the leader.Offer suggestions regarding routing / assignments / etc. that may improve the performance of the organization.Keep equipment clean and free of debris both interior and exterior.Inspect product being delivered, donated, and / or purchased for quality as assigned by the leader.Report all accidents to management.QUALIFICATIONS : Education / Experience : High School Diploma from an accredited school or general education development (GED) certificate1 Year of commercial driving experience, 2 years of verified class A tractor / trailer experienced, and / or certification from an approved driver training programCertificates, Licenses, and Registrations : Valid Texas Class A Commercial Drivers License for tractor / trailer equipmentApproved 3-Year (Clean / Clear / No Violations) Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)Must be able to pass the Department of Transportation (DOT) PhysicalKnowledge of motor vehicle operations, traffic rules, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and maintenance of motor vehiclesKnowledge of tracking and dispatch software (i.e., Samsara)Ability to learn new software systems, smartphones, and driver appsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limi ed to Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OutlookExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to operate a liftgateAbility to operate a manual and electric pallet jack[]{style="font-size : 12pt;"}
