JOB SUMMARY
The Teacher Resident is a student teacher who participates in a year-long student experience under the guidance of a highly effective Mentor Teacher. A resident observes and learns on the job in preparation for a teaching career while earning a degree. For a full school year, full-time, the resident works closely with the Mentor Teacher. Teacher Residents are actively engaged in as many elements of the classroom as possible from the very beginning of the residency year. The Teacher Resident will assume greater responsibilities throughout the residency year.

Work and tasks are often straightforward, routine, structured, and guided by established policies and procedures. Little, if any, independent judgment is required, outside of making basic choices in the selection and application of established methods. The job receives frequent, ongoing supervision.
