Job Title: Senior Dosimetrist
The Senior Dosimetrist position at Houston Methodist is responsible for designing treatment plans under the direction of Medical Physicists and ensuring the geometric characteristics of radiation equipment and radioactive materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teaches and mentors others and staff Dosimetrists in various aspects of Dosimetry, including treatment planning software.
- Plans Brachytherapy independently and helps maintain the Brachytherapy program.
- Communicates with radiation therapists in the implementation of treatment plans, ensuring the correct use of immobilization devices, compensators, wedges, field arrangement, and other treatment or imaging parameters.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in image registration with various image data sets, including CT, MRI, and PET.
- Ability to perform calculations for accurate dose delivery, document all pertinent information, and verify mathematical accuracy.
- Collaboration with Medical Physicists to provide technical support in radiation safety and protection, quality assurance of treatment plans, and radiation oncology equipment.
- Operates and performs quality assurance on treatment planning computers.
- Familiarity with radiation safety and infection control procedures, as well as billing procedures and insurance coding.
Certifications and Licenses:
- Certified Medical Dosimetrist (MDCB)
Work Environment:
This role requires standing for long periods, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, manual dexterity, visual acuity, and auditory ability. Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers.
