What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Geologist/Scientist position at Houston?
Job Description:
The mission of a Environmental Scientist for HVJ, a leading specialty engineering firm in Texas, is to manage Environmental Services that includes and are not limited to Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) Phase 1 and Phase 2, and Fault studies. Main areas of responsibilities include:
- Environmental Field Work and reports for ESA Phase 1 projects
- Come up with drilling locations, manage drilling operations and assign lab tests for ESA Phase 2 projects
- Perform Phase 1 and Phase 2 fault studies
- Manage deliverables and client satisfaction
- Responsible for overall project management from beginning to end including providing invoicing instructions.
Additional Key Expectations
- Conduct field work to investigate the nature and extent of soil, sediment, groundwater and other media contamination
- Observe and log soil explorations via soil boring equipment, Geoprobe and test pit excavations
- Evaluate and apply local, state and federal air regulations to determine requirements for permit modifications
- Perform program research, planning and development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical support services
- Manage budgets, evaluate budget vs. plan, and analyze cost control efficiencies
- Write reports, develop plans, and implement steps to move projects toward closure in the most cost effective manner
- Utilize communications skills to interact with both internal and external clients
Key Criteria/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or a science-related field, such as biology, chemistry, physics, geosciences, or engineering.
- Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Certification
- Valid Texas Drivers License with no history of accidents or alcohol/drug Complete defensive driving course and obtain certificate before driving company vehicles and repeat as necessary.
