Job Summary

The QA Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing testing activities in collaboration with clients for Pega projects. You will help define, promote, and ensure adherence to quality assurance deliverables such as test approach planning, defect management, risk/complexity analysis, regression test maintenance, acceptance test collaboration and product delivery. Your ultimate goal is to ensure the highest quality for a project given the requirements, schedule, and technologies.

We view our QA team members as much more than simply testers! You will help identify and analyze business requirements and how they will affect an application with regards to regressions, usability, and other requirements that may need to change or adapt - ultimately leading to the best application for its users.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback to help ensure the best possible software application.
  • Create and execute detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases that form the strategy for ensuring the highest quality for a project given its unique needs and constraints.
  • Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities.
  • Design, develop, and execute automation scripts using open source tools.
  • Identify, record, document thoroughly, and track bugs.
  • Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved.
  • Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet client needs.
  • Liaise with internal teams to identify system requirements.
  • Monitor debugging process results.
  • Track quality assurance metrics such as defect densities and open defect counts.

Qualifications and Skills (need minimum of 3 years in QA or BA discipline for consideration)

  • Reliable Work History Demonstrating the following is ideal:
    • Creating workable testing solutions to business problems
    • Analyzing data and workflows to determine test scenario design to contain risk
    • Possessing a technical aptitude to demonstrate confidence to IT and business users
    • Performing functional/performance/regression/acceptance testing of software applications
    • Gathering requirements or working with Product owners to groom requirements via Use Cases
    • Performing test planning, test case design techniques, and results analysis methods
    • Being an effective communicator with other disciplines (e.g., Development, Project Management, Hoverstate Clients)
    • Being a QA evangelist in an Agile or DevOps methodology
    • Taking initiative: must drive reliability through proactive approaches in looking for code deficiencies, missed scope, or ambiguous requirements
    • Showing leadership: must take responsibility as the face for QA for assigned projects
    • Supporting the Client: must learn product under test at the architectural level and analyze client business process flows
    • Excellent communication abilities
  • Preferred Practice with:
    • Selenium webDriver
    • Java or Javascript
    • Test automation frameworks
    • Designing test solutions through Behavioral Driven Development
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a related field a plus
