Transitional Second Deputy
POSITION: Second Deputy STATUS: Full Time
DEPARTMENT: Clerk FSLA STATUS: Non-Exempt
WORK SCHEDULE: Mon–Fri, 8AM-4PM SALARY: $42,077/yr
DUTIES:
Answer telephone, direct calls, take messages, wait the counter (standing required).
Desk work to include but not limited to: docketing new cases, prepare and distribute court orders.
Maintain court records in accordance to Indiana retention standards.
Assist the public, attorneys and courts.
Process marriage license, protective orders, small claims and any pro se filings.
Collect payments, maintain cash and credit card payments, and balance the till daily.
Confidentiality and high standard of integrity are essential.
SKILLS:
Typing, basic computer skills, and knowledge of office equipment are required. Must be able to process basic math skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and the public. The ability to interpret questions from the public using problem solving techniques to get to the root of the problem. Ability to work with the public in a professional manner. Ability to work well with court staff, attorneys, and co-workers.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED.
