CLASS DESCRIPTION:
Performs senior technical level operations work, which may include supervisory responsibility, under general supervision from an administrative or technical superior. Work includes receipt and distribution of supplies (all clothing and equipment) for Police or Fire and Rescue operations; ordering and distributing clothing and supplies of considerable value; and maintaining an inventory on all items within the Police Department or the Department of Fire and Rescue Services.Include the following. - Works and cooperates with co-workers and supervisors at all levels.
- Learns and performs all essential job functions accurately.
- Receives, stores, and issues equipment, material, supplies, merchandise, or tools, and compiles stock records in stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard by performing the following duties:
- Using the SAP inventory system, tracks, accounts for, and records inventory.
- Works closely with the Howard County Office of Purchasing, vendors and the HCPD Administration Command regarding budgets, contracts, purchases, and specifications.
- Counts, sorts, or weighs incoming articles to verify receipt of items on requisition or invoices.
- Examines stock to verify conformance to specifications.
- Stores articles in bins, on floor, or on shelves, according to identifying information such as style, size, or type of material.
- Fills orders or issues supplies from stock.
- Prepares periodic, special, or perpetual inventory of stock.
- Requisitions articles to fill incoming orders.
- Compiles reports on use of stock handling equipment, adjustments of inventory counts and stock records, spoilage of or damage to stock, location changes, and refusal of shipments.
- Marks identifying codes, figures, or letters on articles.
- Distributes stock among workers, keeping records of material issued.
- Makes adjustments or repairs to articles carried in stock.
- Determines methods of storage, identification, and stock location, considering temperature, humidity, height and weight limits, turnover, floor loading capacities, and required space.
- Adjusts stock to size to fill order.
- Moves or transports material or supplies to other locations.
- Maintains inventory, bar code systems, and other stock records.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Experience in receipt, storage, and issuance of equipment, material, supplies, merchandise, or tools.
- Familiarity with database and data entry.
- Familiarity with PC operations and Microsoft Office programs.
- Working knowledge of SAP and the Howard County budget development process.
