The Howard County Library System (HCLS) is seeking dynamic Summer STEM Instructors for our STEM education programs designed for middle and high school students in Howard County, MD. The goal for the summer program is to work with middle and high school students to discover and test all the wonderful things about the STEM class of their choosing. The instructional team teaches from a designated curriculum, facilitates discussions and the creation of projects, and nurtures students’ interest in STEM topics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and familiarize yourself with existing curriculum.
- Instruct in an engaging and fun manner to enhance the summer student experience.
- Ensure that learning goals are met in each class.
- Administer assessments to attendees and ensure completion.
- Submit materials requests and manage classroom setup and cleanup.
- Report any anomalies or issues that arise during classes.

Requirements
- Must be a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior pursuing a degree in a STEM or STEM Education field.
- Experience working with and engaging teens.
- Transferable knowledge in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math.
- A passion for teaching STEM topics and the ability to deliver existing curriculum.
- Extraordinary customer service skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work quickly and perform under tight deadlines.
Dates: June 10th – August 11th (start dates are negotiable)
Hours: (8:00 am -5:00 pm)
