HCLS is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team!
As a STEM Instructor & Mobile Education Specialist, you will develop and deliver STEM educational classes to students of all ages. You will connect with community members of all ages to provide STEAM Instruction in a traditional classroom or mobile classroom. Additionally, you will collaborate with your peers to travel to designated local locations to deliver STEAM educational experiences. As a driver of the HCLS mobile unit, the STEM Machine, you will drive from various locations to provide children, teens, and adults with interactive,
project-based classes to explore their creativity, develop their skills, expand their knowledge and form new friendships.

·You drive the STEAM Machine safely to and from scheduled stops and other locations, including community events and maintenance trips
·You become expert on operating the van’s controls and equipment
·You perform routine housekeeping to keep the interior and exterior of STEAM Machine functional, clean and attractive
·You assist setting up and taking down seating, displays, and various equipment at each stop
·You model the Library’s values to co-create positive library experiences with customers of all ages
·You order supplies and equipment when needed
·You will teach STEAM classes as needed at any HCLS branch

Requirements
· College degree in science, technology, engineering, or math. Masters in Mathematics, Science or STEM preferred
· Strong background in the tech field is preferred as we aim to bring great tech-based classes to the community
· Experience utilizing Python, Java, HTML/CSS, Raspberry Pi, Arduino preferred
· Animation skills and cyber security knowledge preferred
· Three years of exemplary classroom teaching experience
· Demonstrated experience facilitating problem-based learning
· Evidence of planning, organization, and time management skills that will bring structure and accountability to the position.
· Deep understanding of student learning theory, brain-based learning, and differentiated instruction
· Customer-focused, approachable, empathetic, and supportive to children and adults of all backgrounds
· Possess and maintain a valid MD Motor Vehicle Operator’s License A good driving record (no moving violations for last three years)
· Proven ability to drive skillfully and safely
· Work collegially and collaboratively with people of diverse backgrounds
· Solve problems using sound judgment
· Communicate well, in person and by email or phone
· Excellent written communication skills
Your job will involve being active:
· You need to stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, reach, lift and push/pull carts and carry bags or boxes of books.
· Driving required
Additional Details:
· Position currently located at the Administrative Branch
· Works under the direction of the STEM Program Manager
· Full-time, 37.5 hours per week; mornings, evenings and/or weekends may be required for Head Start faculty/parent meetings and for HCLS events.
· May be required to participate in LATI (Library Associate Training Institute)
· Grade 8: $45,138 - $79,149
· Open until filled.
