What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Development Analyst position at Howard Energy Partners?
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Support corporate and business development teams to manage the evaluation and execution of M&A and commercial projects.
- Perform valuation, sensitivity, and accretion/dilution analysis for potential greenfield projects, mergers, and acquisitions for energy and related projects by cooperating with the commercial, engineering, insurance, tax, and legal groups.
- Conduct market analysis, identifying and monitoring trends in the energy industry.
- Research peer companies to identify market trends.
- Assist in the due diligence process for mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, ensuring all relevant information is gathered and analyzed.
- Assist in preparing analysis and presentations for capital raising activities for prospective debt and equity investors.

Communicate company operations and strategy effectively to prospective investors.

Develop and communicate ad hoc financial and business analysis.

Work closely with finance, engineering, legal, and operational teams to support transaction execution and transition of assets.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Basic understanding of financial valuation methods
- Intermediate Excel skills with a strong ability to develop and modify models
- Intermediate PowerPoint skills to critically communicate to executives and Board of Directors
- Basic understanding of lines of businesses and industry, general knowledge of upstream/midstream/downstream and willingness to follow industry news
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively (orally and written)
- Highly attentive to detail
- Ability to work on multiple projects while delivering on deadlines
- Creates a good work environment through a positive attitude and offering to help others when necessary
Education and Experience:
- Undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, or economics
- Master’s degree in finance, accounting, or economics is a plus
- 1-4 years of work experience working at a top energy company or financial institution
Certifications:
- Working to earn CPA or CFA certification is a plus
Travel:
Travel required locally or long-distance up to 20% of the time for work-related meetings and functions.
Equipment:
Computer, computer software programs and peripherals, resource materials and equipment, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to the position.
Mental and Physical Demands:
General office and sedentary. Regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Walking, standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing; occasional: lifting/carrying, pulling/pushing up to 30 pounds.
Maintain emotional control under stress, work with interruptions and deadlines.
May work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Environmental Factors:
Occasional exposure to biological hazards (communicable diseases, bacteria, insects, mold, fungi, etc.). Occasional exposure to weather related conditions when working in an outdoor environment.
