What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Land position at Howard Energy Partners?
Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Manager, Land will be to oversee Right-of-Way (ROW) projects from initial estimates through acquisition and construction, maintain quality landowner relationships, and coordination of ROW monitoring and maintenance in fulfillment of easement provisions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Represent company in professional manner and develop rapport with landowners, consultants, and stakeholders.
- Manage Land projects by providing oversight of project deliverables, budgets, and project staffing.
- Ensure project schedule expectations are met.
- Manage brokers, consultants, and attorneys in acquisition, title, and curative matters as appropriate.
- Ensure department milestones and goals are met and adhere to approved budgets.
- Work with land administration and support personnel to maintain accurate land records.
- Mentor and assist in training Land Coordinator(s) and Analyst(s).
- Review, draft, negotiate, and interpret agreements, easements, leases, and contracts.
- Assist Senior Land Manager in providing information to Engineering and Project Management staff in ensuring proper reporting of quarterly and annual information to senior management.
- Due diligence of acquisitions, mergers, and divestitures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in all aspects of land management
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Demonstrated negotiation skills and ability to develop land agreement strategies
- Ability to lead and manage others
- Ability to identify solutions and resolve conflicts
- Ability to interpret maps, plats, plans & surveys
- Ability to manage multiple projects and contractors
- Working knowledge of pipeline construction practices
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills
- Self-starter requiring minimal supervision
- Ability to operate independently and as part of a team
- Demonstrate effective leadership skills
- Proficiency in land management software and applications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required, or at least 5 years of Land or Real Estate experience with at least 3 years of those being at corporate level supporting energy infrastructure projects (e.g., pipeline, midstream oil & gas, utility transmission).
- Minimum 1 years in a supervisory role
