What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Assistant - Litigation position at Howard & Howard Attorne?
Howard & Howard is seeking a highly motivated Legal Assistant to join our team in Chicago, IL. Our Legal Assistants work in partnership with their assigned attorneys and are responsible for maintaining an effective daily workflow as well as independently coordinating administrative tasks within the pre-litigation and/or trial process. The ideal candidate will be expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality in all aspects of their work. Attention to detail and ability to multitask will be essential in this role. This is a full-time opportunity, and salary will be commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Managing assigned attorneys’ calendars, dockets and appointments
- Making extensive and frequent travel arrangements
- Maintaining and organizing attorney caseloads across several jurisdictions
- Screening incoming client calls and correspondence and responding as necessary
- Composing and preparing emails, confidential correspondence, reports and other complex documents
- Creating and maintaining spreadsheet files, including use of formulas
- Conducting attorney time entry and complex billing
- Providing back-up support to other legal assistants
- Performing other duties as assigned
