Using stablished techniques and procedures, repairs case and finish defects on completed clocks, curios, bars, and other wood furniture products. Replaces trim, fills scratches, nail holes, and grain defects, sands lacquer runs and reapplies lacquer; sands and corrects stain blemishes, and repairs other finish flaws.
An appreciation for symmetry, color, texture and craftsmanship are important in this job. The position requires great attention to detail, the ability to detect slight imperfections which affect appearance and the ability to achieve perfect color matches. Must pass a color test.

Responsibilities
1. Inspects products which have been designated for repair(s) by inspectors, lead people, and other staff. Determines whether repair is warranted, or if the blemish is natural or insignificant. Returns approved clocks to the pack line according to acceptable quality limits established for the department.
2. Performs repairs to wooden cases. Replaces trim, moldings, and other wooden parts in order to restore the clock to acceptable quality. Utilizes glue, nails and/or screws as appropriate.
3. Fill joints, scratches, dents, and natural flaws with putty, wax or other material. Sands, stains, and lacquers to match.
4. Examines and repairs finish defects. Sands to white wood, if required, then applies appropriate finish materials as needed. This process may require the blending and matching of stain colors to ensure a flawless appearance.
5. Identifies clocks which simply cannot be repaired and informs supervisor or lead person so they may be salvaged.
6. Maintains tools, supplies, and equipment as well as the general appearance and cleanliness of work bench.
7. Responds to questions from lead people and staff regarding whether a blemish warrants attention and provides other advice regarding quality
Skills
1. This position requires the incumbent to stand for prolonged periods of time. There is some light lifting, rubbing and similar exertion but the position does not ordinarily demand heavy/hard work.
