The Director in Perioperative Services Department will report directly to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and is responsible for providing strategic leadership and administration in the areas of patient care, education, safety and quality in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice, utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development.
The Director will promote a professional practice environment and develop and maintain collegial and collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders across the institution to positively impact the business of clinical operations, nursing and patient care outcomes. These partnerships include ongoing collaboration with physicians, nursing, interdisciplinary, facility and organizational leaders. Responsibilities include all aspects of clinical operations, effective leadership strategies, employee engagement, clinician and patient / family education, customer service, patient safety, financial outcomes, and quality outcome management, operational excellence, uphold HUH policies and procedures, and regulatory compliance.
The Director :
- Collaborates with administrators, physicians, managers and interdisciplinary providers to facilitate planning, implementation, and evaluation of strategic plan and initiatives
- Models & encourages professional practice that includes nurse autonomy, authority, accountability, empowerment and responsibility for self and staff within the department
- Conducts purposeful counseling / coaching sessions with direct reports for purposes of correction and appropriate corrective actions, professional development of self and direct reports (i.e., percent of performance appraisals done in a timely fashion, one-to-one standing meetings).
- Oversees development & implementation of care delivery model, establishes clear expectations based on standards of care defined by their professional & regulatory organizations
- Executes successfully the established plans and the services through measurement, monitoring, analysis, reporting, and adjusting the direction, allocation and utilization of available resources
- Identifies issues to the Chief Nursing Officer and takes an active role in leading the process improvement initiative to address opportunities for improvement
- Advocates for resources for safe delivery of patient care related to labor, equipment & facilities in specialty area with a global perspective
