Pay Grade: $35.69-57.10 (Actual offer rates are based upon the applicants relevant job experience and the requirements of the position)
The Infection Control Preventionist Will:
- Implement planned surveillance functions related to control and prevention of infection.
- Participate in the implementation/enforcement of prevention/control activities which promote patient and healthcare worker safety.
- Collaborate with other professionals to improve patient care/safety based on evidence-based infection prevention and control practices.
- Compile and analyze data on healthcare associated infections and disseminates the data to improve patient safety across the continuum of care.
- Report data collected in clear and concise manner including according to guidelines.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in patient or healthcare worker safety based on surveillance activities.
- Develop, implement and evaluate education programs for staff and students, and educational resources for patients and families.
- Manage infection prevention related projects as appropriate.
- Contribute new knowledge related to infection prevention by initiating and/or participating in research as appropriate.
- Serve as educator and consultant
Qualified candidates will possess:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Microbiology, Biology, Medical Technology or other related science field.
- Master’s Degree in Public Health, Nursing, or other related science field preferred.
- 2 years' experience participating in a hospital-based infection prevention & control program consisting of surveillance, education of staff, data analysis, and aggregation consistent epidemiological practices.
- Certification as Infection Preventionist (CBIC), preferred or obtainment within 12 months of employment.
