Position: Schedule B Vacancy - Robotics Team Advisor
Location: Howell High School
Reports to: Building Principal
Duration: Twelve (12) months
Overview: Serve as Robotics Team Advisor for high school students by coordinating and overseeing FIRST Robotics Competition programming.
Responsibilities (Described by Season):
- Pre-Season (May - August)
- Read, understand and follow FIRST Coach/Mentor Handbook.
- Inventory materials and tools.
- Create team budget for year.
- Obtain sponsorships, write grants, fundraise.
- Recruit mentors, parent volunteers and new students.
- Secure all needed forms from volunteers and students.
- Register and pay for team via FIRST.
- Schedule outreach activities.
- Organize and hold “kickoff” event for new challenge.
- Build Season (September - December)
- Distribute and learn all challenge rules.
- Set build schedule.
- Organize and assign volunteer and mentor roles.
- Order field elements, robot parts and materials.
- Guide team design of robot.
- Guide prototyping and build of robot.
- Guide CAD and programming teams.
- Design and order team t-shirts.
- Document team activities and design/build of robot in engineering notebook.
- Schedule and register for applicable competition events.
- Facilitate practice judging interviews.
- Set a practice driving schedule for drive team.
- Set-up practice field and field elements.
- Organize storage of parts, materials and tools.
- Conduct team experiences.
- Design and build pit and other needed materials at events.
- Competition Season (November - December or longer depending upon advancement (April is max))
- Set team member jobs and responsibilities.
- Coordinate travel for team members and parents as needed
- Pay for competition events.
- Secure and bring all needed forms for competition events.
- Bring pit supplies and tools to and from events.
- Attend all scheduled practice events, scrimmages, and competitions.
- Coach students during events.
- Post-Season (May - August)
- Thank sponsors, mentors, parents.
- Organize team banquet.
- Student recognition/Team awards.
- Organize robotics demonstrations.
- Support curriculum integration, as needed.
- Serve on Robotics Advisory Board, as needed.
- OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.
Wages: Per HEA Collective Bargaining Agreement

Salary : $2,822
