Job Summary:

 

The Retail Store Manager reports to the Sales and Marketing Manager for all company and retail store needs. 

  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  

  • Completes store operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Maintains store staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Maintains store staff job results by coaching, counseling, rewarding and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results. Develops performance criteria.
  • Ensures store layout, logos and all materials are in line with company branding goals and standards.
  • Identifies current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
  • Ensures availability of merchandise and services by approving contracts; maintains inventories.
  • Formulates pricing policies in collaboration with sales & marketing team by reviewing merchandising activities; determining additional needed sales promotions; authorizing clearance sales; studying trends.
  • Markets merchandise by studying advertising, sales promotion, and display plans; analyzing operating and financial statements for profitability ratios.
  • Secures merchandise by implementing security systems and measures.
  • Protects employees and customers by providing a safe and clean store environment.
  • Maintains the stability and reputation of the store by complying with legal requirements.
  • Determines marketing strategy changes by reviewing operating and financial statements and departmental sales records.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Maintains operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing operational and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • May be required to develop and deliver training programs to other retail store employees.

  

Additional Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage and handle all events and promotional functions for Freedom Munitions/LAX
  • Other duties as assigned

Specifications/Qualifications:

  

  • Experience:  Minimum 6 years of retail store management experience with full store management responsibility; career showing progression from sales to lead or managerial roles prior to that. Knowledge of the shooting industry, ammunition products, and consumers’ needs or sporting goods preferred.
  • Education:  Excellent communication and people skills, organizational skills, and management skills. Associates or Bachelor’s degree in business preferred. MBA highly desired.
  • Responsibility:  Manage all aspects of retail store and staff. Handle all special events and promotional functions.
  • Complexity of duties:  Highly motivated, quick thinking, customer service oriented including damage control, making decisions with use of best judgment when a situational decision needs to be made immediately. Uses vast knowledge of retail sales industry to build systems and policy for store while also assisting in building out other stores as the company grows.
  • Supervision received:  Direct oversight from Sales and Marketing Manager and/or Regional Retail Sales Manager.
  • Supervision exercised:  Directly responsible for staff in specified retail locations where operating. 
  • Working conditions:  Office & storefront. Excessive sitting and standing at events.
  • Mental and physical demands:  Sitting, standing, climbing, lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying, reaching, speaking, listening, motor coordination skills, coordination of eyes, hands and feet. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Confidential data:  On a need to know basis to perform job to its fullest.
  • Physical demands: Must be able to sit for long periods, some periods of standing, walking, lifting file boxes, speaking, listening, motor coordination skills, and good eyesight for reading documents and data entry.
